Hi! My name is April. I am a single woman in her 30′s, and I have had fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome for about 10 years. I have tried many different forms of treatment; some have worked well, some have not.
The biggest improvement came from following a strict diet that eliminates sugars, yeast, gluten (wheat), processed foods, dairy, and caffeine. I added in lots more vegetables and whole grains. Within 4 months, my pain level went from an “8″ to a “2″ on the pain scale.
I also have had a mild case of cerebral palsy since birth, classified as “spastic paraplegia” , and have experience with living with a disability. My cerebral palsy affects my walking and fine motor skills to a degree, but I am able to live a relatively normal life, whatever that may be…(smile). Personally, I find that fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue are more disabling for me than cerebral palsy.
Now that I have more energy and less fibrofog, I hope that I can encourage anyone dealing with FM/CFS or cerebral palsy. I think attitude and diet are important, but I am most interested in being a cheerleader for you. Dealing with chronic illness and pain is plain tough, but you can make it. Don’t give up!
